SEXY AND CLASSIC
Designer Amethyst is launching his summer collection at the Sapori Happy Hour this evening.
Amethyst, who produces the SpiritWear line, told The Royal Gazette that this year's collection offers sexy and classic styles.
"This year's collection is designed for the woman who wants to look sexy and classic yet conquer on the beach without limitations as far as her personalised style," said the designer Ricky (Amethyst) Richardson.
"What makes this collection different from the previous lines is its fabrication.
"SpiritWear will always have a signature look of freedom and sensuality. SpiritWear now introduces its new line SpiritWearToo: The Cruzline.
"This beautiful and exposed line is designed to take you from the beach to the dining room simply by adding a sarong, a wrap or pants to step up the look.
"By putting on simple jewellery, a pair of flats or heels will finish off the look you desire for those early cocktail parties, pool gatherings or just a night out on the town."
This year Amethyst has chosen, not his usual linens and silks, but instead crepes and chiffons.
"The colours chosen for the line are much more colourful, in sheers of crepe and chiffon to create a more airy and sexy line for those days that you want to feel cooler and look sexier," he said.
When asked, what was in, he said: "What's in is about colour print and minimal jewellery."
So, what's in store the more voluptuous woman?
"SpiritWear has always been for the full women," he said.
"The treats for her this season will be able to take her to the beach and still feel as sexy as everyone there."
When the designer isn't designing, he is a locks specialist.
"As natural hair is also passion of mine, there will always be time for me to design what is my first passion."
Regarding what would surprise regular fans of his collections, he replied: "I guess the most surprising thing about this collection will be its exposure along with its vibrant colours."
When asked about the models, he said: "The models will be the supermodel herself, Torri Simons, as well as some of my main girls and one new beautiful young lady Tiffany Dawin Eatherley.
"And maybe there will be a guy as a treat for the ladies."
Amethyst began working on this collection last year.
"I was on vacation in the islands, which gave me much inspiration to doing this beautiful and sensual collection," he said.
"And so here it is. This collection was first designed for St. Thomas and because of its great response, I decided to bring it home where it could be appreciated as well 'I hope'."
The show will take place around the Sapori pool and models will step to Miami sounds throughout the evening.
"We hope this will go over well and I will give Bermuda a free preview as often I can throughout the summer season every other month."
Happy Hour begins after work and the show begins at 7.30 p.m.
