Comedy headliners –come out for Bootsie
Def Jam Meets Comic View, an event featuring both local and internationals comedians, will take place this Saturday at the Fairmont Southampton Amphitheatre.
Bootsie's Comedy Club is hosting the event, which will feature comedians Brooklyn Mike, Freddie Ricks, Smokey, A.G. White and Yard Michael, as well as local funny men Nadanja Bailey and Klymaxx.
Bootsie said the international acts have performed on many of the top comedy stages in the United States.
"For instance, Smokey, A.G. White and Mike Yard have all performed on P Diddy's 'Bad Boys'," he said.
"Freddie and Brooklyn Mike were on Def Jam, while Smokey was on all three, which includes 'Comic View'."
Encouraging the public to come out to enjoy the line up, Bootsie said: "When Freddie was here before and he got a standing ovation, he is very quick, very witty.
"His imagination is unreal and he takes it to the next level where your mind or the average mind doesn't go and although you are amazed where he takes it, you understand it."
He won't be alone in delighting the crowd however, Bootsie added: "Smokey's act is very high-energy. He does his set and gets off the stage.
"They are all headliners."
Freddie Ricks has appeared in :Shaft" and "Paper Soldiers", he said, while A.G. White is considered the "King of snap — sort of ya mama jokes", Bootsie said.
"The host is Freddie Ricks and he is going to help gel it all together and give us that Def Jam/Comic View style."
Asked if he would perform, Bootsie said: "No, I am just promoting. I'll probably do a couple of minutes.
"It is a fantastic show, so Bermudians are in for a treat and a half. So, if you are looking for something to do and you want a good laugh, then nothing beats Def Jam Meets Comic View."
But continue to look out, as Bootsie is planning several smaller shows throughout the coming months, while once a month he plans to host a mega show.
Tickets, $30 are available from 27th Century Boutique, Reid Street, and Bootsie's Comedy Club on Front Street.
