Diners get the opportunity to critique top chefs
Bermuda's foodie crowd will get the opportunity to critique some of Bermuda's best chefs during The People's Choice Challenge, part of the upcoming Bermuda Gourmet Getaway event.
Gourmands simply dine at one of the participating restaurants every Friday during February.
Each of the participating restaurants will feature a multi-course prix fixe menu designed by their chef.
Attendees can order just a dish or the entire specially prepared People's Choice Menu, with or without wines, and become a judge for the evening. Fill out your ballot and have your say as to who is Bermuda's Best. The People's Choice Challenge is sponsored by the U.S. Meat Export Federation; the U.S.A. Poultry & Egg Export Council; the U.S. Dairy Export Council; and California Wines.
Categories will include Best Cheese, Best Meat, Best Poultry, Best Food and Wine Pairing, Best Overall.
The People's Choice Challenge is intended to assist restaurants Island-wide during the off-season by raising cover counts resulting in increased revenue per cheque.
It is also meant to feature the culinary creativeness of the chef(s) and kitchen team, as well as service standards of the front of house team; and raise the level of culinary excellence and camaraderie among all participants.
Another goal is to raise money for the Bermudian Culinary Development Fund, which assists young Bermudians to travel overseas and work in the kitchens of noted chefs.
The current title holders are Café Gio in St. George's as the Best Overall winner in the Casual Dining category and the Newport Room as Best Overall in the Fine Dining category.
