Donate socks to those less fortunate

Photo by Scott HillWord dots: "Pixels and Poems" is a show that features the work of published poet Lisa Howie and photographer husband Scott Hill. The work was either written or photographed during their ski trip honeymoon last summer to Chile and Argentina.

Bermuda Society of Arts is joining in the spirit of Christmas giving with director Victoria Evans-Cracknell calling on residents to make sure their less well off neighbours have warm feet this winter.

She drew on the lyrics of the season classic ‘Let it Snow’ to express her inspiration.

“‘Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful. And since we’ve no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow,’” she chimed.

“We don’t see too much snow, but we do see plenty of rain and lots of cold nights are still ahead.

“So, the BSoA is inviting their members and friends to donate a new pair of white socks of any size for those less fortunate.”

Meanwhile, Mrs. Evans-Cracknell invited everyone to come to the gallery’s last opening of the year this evening.

On exhibit will be the BSoA Members Show and, in the Edinburgh Gallery, works from the husband and wife team of photographer Scott Hill and poet Lisa Howie.

Mrs. Evans-Cracknell has planned an evening of Christmas cheer with festive drinks, yummy cookies and live jazz to accompany the opening.

If you are unable to attend, however, you are still invited to join in the sock drive by stopping by BSoA early next week between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. or tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to hang your socks on their Christmas tree.

The socks will be delivered to Paget Lions Club on December 19, for distribution into their “Share the Christmas Spirit” hampers.
