Imus coming back to TV

SAN FRANCISCO (Bloomberg) — Don Imus, fired in April by CBS Corp. for racially charged comments about the Rutgers University women's basketball team, will simulcast his new radio programme on a television network targeting rural Americans.

Imus has reached a five-year agreement with Nashville-based Rural Media Group Inc.'s RFD-TV to broadcast the "Imus In The Morning" show weekdays from 6-9 a.m. New York time. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, said Raquel Gottsch, a spokeswoman for Rural Media Group.

Citadel Broadcasting Corp. hired Imus earlier this month for the radio programme, which will be syndicated nationally to other stations over Citadel's ABC Radio Network. The simulcast on RFD- TV will reach 30 million homes.

General Electric Co.'s MSNBC used to simulcast the "Imus In The Morning" programme each morning before he was fired in April. Civil rights leaders including Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson called for Imus to be fired for comments about the basketball players.
