The reason for my absence

I've had a baby! It's no secret to any of you who have seen me over the past few months, that I've been expecting my first baby. Born skinny, I've been walking around looking like an olive on a cocktail stick and have looked beyond-a-doubt pregnant since about September - a saving grace for all those who have ever asked a non-pregnant but slightly round woman when their baby is due. (Most of us have done it once... I of course have done it twice, dammit.)So, little Chloe Somorjay Burns was born on January 14th, weighing a healthy, but eye-watering 7lbs 3oz. Since then, the lovely husband and I have been wandering around in a sleep deprived daze, adjusting to the responsibilities of parenthood and achieving everyday tasks (like making cups of tea or buying groceries) after military-style planning. To all those single parents out there - I have even more respect for you now!

Anyway, as I can barely even fit a shower in to my day, I'm taking a few weeks off writing Food for Thought. I need some time to get to know our little noise-maker and master the art of diaper changing. This does mean of course I'll have a whole lot more material when it comes to writing about poo - so brace yourselves! In the meantime, wish me luck¿.
