'Miami glam' is the suggested dress code for this evening's NYE Social 08.

The events, which are at the Opus Lounge and Fresco's will merge to bring what is promised to be the hottest party on the Island.

The event is the culmination of the combined efforts of managing directors of the Fresco's Group, Claudio Vigilante and Unité's Belcario Thomas.

"We thought that there was a niche market of international and internationally minded people who wanted to have a special time for New Year's," explained Mr. Thomas. "So Fresco's Group decided to partner with Unité and tried to create that."

Of the bash itself, Mr. Thomas said: "We have two venues and one event and both are tied into the other.

"DJs and cocktail specials – we have Chubb who will be playing Rock, Hip Hop to House and other party anthems. There will also be three speed bars at Fresco's, for quick service."

As with the above, Mr. Vigilante added that although the restaurant will be open for business, it will be transformed into another hot spot.

"People are welcome to come for dinner and if they wish they can stay for the party and there will be a discounted rate for the tickets."

They are offering four rooms, one of which Mr. Thomas has dubbed an ultra lounge.

"It is about doing something different – it is about two locations and it is something that nobody is doing for New Year's Eve," said Mr. Vigilante.

"Also, the VIP area is very little difference in price, and you get the complimentary drink when you come in and then you get the champagne at midnight."

A more chilled out vibe will prevail at the Opus Lounge.

"It will have a great ambience, there will be special cocktails and then the VIP area, and you will be shuffled between here and Fresco's," said Mr. Vigilante.

"But if you want something a little more loud and livelier, you can go over to Fresco's.

"And then if you want to change the mood of the evening, you can come back here."

There's another touch for fruit and chocolate lovers, Mr. Vigilante said.

"We have strawberries dipped in chocolate," he said.

The music at the Opus Lounge will be provided by DJ Skilatchi, who is planning to spin fresh sounds to bring in the New Year.

"He is playing a complement of House Sexy meets Café Del Mar meets Costos – lounge-esque music," said Mr. Thomas.

"Najib (Chentouf) of the Dirkistan Freedom Fighters spinning House and sexy R&B."

At both locales, patrons will have a complimentary champagne toast.

The night begins with the pre-party at Opus from 7 p.m., while the party starts at Fresco's from 10 p.m. until 3 a.m.
