Party was 'a white oasis of pure clubbing bliss'
The White Party was just about everything organisers promised including dance, decadence and debauchery.
The soiree took place on Saturday at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess' Gombey Room and Harbour Ballroom with over 1,500 people clothed in white.
I arrived at the event with the girls close to 11 p.m. and headed into the Bacardi chill-out room. I was greeted with a Bacardi shooter when I walked into the room. I saw a chocolate fondue fountain in the middle of the room. However, it was chocolate, not white chocolate as advertised. There was a variety of fruit to go along with the fondue but I decided to pass to avoid spillage on my white ensemble.
In the back corner of the room sat an enormous ice luge with special White Party martinis spilling through the bottom. I was disappointed when I discovered they weren't complimentary.
Now to the actual party. As I walked up the stairs and into the ballroom, it was if I had stumbled upon heaven! White was everywhere giving the room an elegant, almost calm feel. Belcario was right, it was a "white oasis of pure clubbing bliss".
Since we had VIP tickets, we went over to the VIP room which was filled with those more special people at the party. A table in the corner seated Alex Thomas from the comedy show and a few other industry people. I ended up staying in VIP for a bit then moved onto the dancefloor.
The Final Image VJ's Barmuvinjam brought in for their party the following night opened up the dance with a great mix of music. Revellers filled the dancefloor and began to dance the night away.
A highlight for me was when I walked down to the lobby and bumped into Kel Mitchell from the "Keenan and Kel" show on Nickelodeon and Ken Lawson, T from "The Parkers". The other celebrity I saw was Lester "Rasta" Speight, Calvin from "My Wife & Kids". I was very disappointed when I didn't see the beautiful Shemar Moore. The best part of the party was the great music that was played. The DJ's really put their heart and soul into pleasing the crowd which was greatly appreciated by everyone who attended.
There was also a violin sound clash which was very interesting. Taylor and Chris faced off with Taylor eventually winning by crowd applause. Both of them were amazing I must say.
The Unite' dancers weren't as good as I've seen in the past. Their costumes were cute and different with Asian inspired accents. Each dancer had flowers, fish and other designs painted on her in white and light colours. It was a little disappointing to see the girls up there attempting to dance to soca and reggae instead of really dancing to the music.
I also found it interesting that white tops were mandatory but I saw girls in everything including pink, black, blue and red tops( At Diddy's white party, people who weren't in all white were turned away!). The biggest downside to the party was the lack of air conditioning. With all the people, it was ridiculously hot. It felt like I was laying on the beach at the height of day.
Overall, I had a really good time at the White Party. I honestly didn't expect it to be as great as it was, so I'm glad it was a night filled with fun. The best part for me was back in VIP trying to teach Kel and Ken how to dance to soca. Kel kept jumping up and down while Ken just couldn't get the hang of it.
Unité, I was impressed. Keep the great parties coming!
