St. David's take top prize in Christmas tree competition
St. David's Primary School has captured the honours in this year's Airport Christmas Tree Competition.
Twelve schools participated in the tree decoration contest, for which the theme was 'Santa's Coming to Town: Show all the ways that Santa can travel to and around Bermuda'.
Judging of the trees took place last week and Minister of Education, Sports and Recreation Randy Horton was on hand to hand out awards to the prize-winners.
"The Christmas Tree competition has been an annual event now for some eight years and, by all accounts, it just keeps getting better each year," Mr. Horton said. "We are proud of the fact that 12 of our primary schools participated this year. I am pleased to congratulate them all."
While St. David's Primary took the award for Best Overall tree, Purvis Primary was honoured for Most Original and Gilbert Institute for Most Beautiful.The Best Theme award went to both Harrington Sound Primary and West Pembroke which tied for the honour.
Other schools competing this year were: Francis Patton, East End, Paget Primary, Heron Bay, Southampton Glebe, Somerset Primary and Victor Scott.
The Department of Airport Operations thanked all the participants and sponsors, in particular Phoenix Stores, for their continued support of this annual event.
