A natural, healthy way of cooking
Church, will be staged this month.
The five-session course on vegetarian cooking, designed by authors Mark and Ernestine Finley, will be co-ordinated by Mrs. Selena Simons.
Described as a "practical, down-to-earth approach to healthful cooking,'' it will teach participants how to make natural lifestyle cooking "simple and enjoyable''.
With the emphasis on holistic health, weekly topics will include the effects of diet on the mind and the relationship between diet and diseases.
"Participants will discover the art of making delicious, nutritious, homemade bread. They will also learn healthful new ways of making breakfast a better meal.
"Help in planning nutritionally balanced meals, and getting adequate protein will make meal planning easier,'' Mrs. Simons said. "There will even be ideas on how to satisfy your craving for sweets without feeling guilty.'' Each session at the Hamilton Adventist Centre will last approximately two hours and feature demonstrations on cooking healthful recipes.
Included in the seminar will be presentations on the latest scientific evidence for reducing the risk of cancer, heart disease, and other killer diseases through healthful diet and lifetstyle.
Participants will have an opportunity to taste the demonstrated recipes.
Classes begin on May 16 at 1.30 p.m. and will continue through June 20, with the exception of June 13.
On June 20, participants' families will be invited to a buffet dinner where the newly-learned recipes will be taste-tested.
A registration fee of $20 covers work/text books, recipes, food samples and hand-outs. To pre-register telephone 236-7824.
