Asthma, allergy workshops set
The Health Department and the Asthma and Allergy Awareness Group (AAAG) will host workshops on July 7 and 9, focussing on living with asthma and allergies and how to begin a programme of asthma management.
The first workshop will feature a panel discussion and demonstration of breathing techniques and children will be shown the proper use of a peak flow meter.
Doctors will discuss what triggers asthma and allergies, how to cope with the problem in the workplace and how to begin a programme of asthma management.

POLICE PROBE DOGS THEFT CRM Police probe dogs theft Four dogs were stolen from the Government kennels at Tudor Farm in Southampton on Tuesday night, Police said yesterday.
Government dog warden Mr. Leonard (Shinah) Simons said the thefts involved a family of cross terriers consisting of a brown bitch and a five-week-old litter of a brown female, a brown male and a black male.
The female puppy was later found at Hog Bay Level.

Mervyn W. Smith, 38, pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine on December 28.
Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, told the court Police were called to the Somerset Cricket Club about a person who was acting suspiciously.
"Officers saw Smith and searched him,'' Insp. Duffy said. "In his front right hand pants pocket they found a brown paper twist containing white crystals.
"After being tested it was discovered that the substance was the controlled drug cocaine in free base form, 0.11 grams and 90 percent pure.'' Smith had previous convictions for drug possession.

When Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis asked if he had anything to say Thomas replied: "I only had it for my own personal use.'' Mr. Francis fined Thomas $100.
IMPAIRED RIDER FINED AND BANNED CTS Impaired rider fined and banned Driving while impaired by alcohol cost a 34-year-old Pembroke man $350 after he pleaded guilty to the charge in Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, told the Court Police saw Allan M. Joell, of Rambling Lane, riding erratically on Middle Road in Warwick without head gear on June 15.
"After getting Joell to pull over, officers noticed that he had some difficulty putting his bike on its stand,'' Insp. Duffy said. "They also noticed that his speech was slurred. When the officers questioned him, Joell admitted that he had drunk a few beers.'' Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Joell $350 and disqualified him from riding all motor vehicles for a year.
SWIMMERS ROBBED CRM Swimmers robbed A thief hit a vacationing American couple yesterday as they swam in the water off Astwood Cove. Police said the thief stole US$20 as well as credit cards from the couple's belongings left on the beach. The articles were taken from the wife's wallet.
