Bermuda Pharmacy's new manager on Pitts Bay waterfront

The manager of the new waterfront Bermuda Pharmacy, Robin Giles, came to Bermuda November '98 as a pharmacist for the Phoenix Stores Ltd.

He hails from the south coast of England, "New Forest.'' As a young teenager he had a feeling that one day he would become a pharmacist. He was very good at chemistry from an early age.

He attended Manchester University and obtained his professional qualification.

Following university he worked as a pharmacist near the Manchester United Football Club. He was soon snapped up by Boots Chemists in Nottingham, their head office and production centre where he was employed four years.

From there he worked in a town similar to Hamilton, called Lymington. It is known as a yachting town. "Working in Bermuda is fantastic. Bermuda has lived up to our expectations in every way. My wife, Ann is also a Phoenix Pharmacist, and we love working here,'' said Mr. Giles.

Mr. Giles worked in the old Bermuda Pharmacy on Church Street. He received his promotion to manager February of this year. He is very excited about being in the new waterfront Bermuda Pharmacy.

"What I enjoy most about my job is working with the public. I am happy to recommend products for the right problem and of good value. We are open long hours, 8 am to 9 p.m. daily except Sunday, '' he advised.

They are going to be implementing a programme called "Ask your Pharmacist'' and customers are encouraged to ask questions about their medicines and over the counter items.

All of the staff are well trained for their positions and eager to offer the best possible customer service. "Our close proximity to the wholesaler at Mills Creek allows us excellent pharmaceutical supplies. If we run out of something we can restock in no time,'' added Mr. Giles.

In his spare time Mr. Giles participates in scuba diving and golf.
