The opening of the bridge, which is now fully operational to road and marine traffic, is a result of the US Navy carrying out tests at off-peak hours, a Government spokesman said on Wednesday.

The tests are intended to evaluate new electrical control systems.

They are expected to be completed within the next few days. Works and Engineering and the US Navy apologise for any temporary inconvenience the work may cause motorists.
