The waterway was reopened yesterday -- a few weeks after the historic bridge was reopened to road traffic following its lengthy restoration.

All that remains now is the construction of a new pathway around the eastern side of the site, to connect to the Railway Trail.

Works and Engineering staff completed the dredging of the water around the structure -- where debris from the project had clogged the bottom.

In addition, they extracted the remains of the foundations sunk for the temporary causeway which was used in the months during the rebuilding project.
