Call for taxi unity
Minister, Dr. Ewart Brown, and taxi operators at the Bermuda Industrial Union last night.
The Minister told those in attendance that he has challenged BIU President and PLP backbencher Derek Burgess to get at least 100 people in the taxi industry to unite.
Dr. Brown told taxi operators: "there is a great deal of divisiveness within this industry. You fight among yourselves and are being played like a violin.'' "Give us an organisation we can negotiate with'' he said, "I am not interested in trying tomorrow morning to work with an industry that is so fragmented.'' Dr. Brown also sought to steer the taxi operators in a new direction telling them that he wants to see the industry grow. "I challenge you to think about growing your industry and stop thinking about who may have taken a piece of the pie.'' he said.
