Catering to all ages . . .
launch a new scheme aimed at both the young and old of Bermuda.
Ms Wanda Bremar, who runs the property on a lease from Government, is in the process of incorporating a management company called Young Decisions.
Ms Bremar, an accountant for law firm Marshall and Co., said: "The primary concept of Young Decisions is to come up with programmes aimed specifically at young people.'' This will include employing between 10 and 15 teenagers at the building's snack bar/restaurant during the summer.
Young Decisions' programme for youths kicks off on June 29 and will include activities such as jet-skiing, wind-surfing, hiking and swimming.
The programme for seniors officially begins on May 4 and will be opened by Minister for Community and Cultural Affairs the Hon. Leonard Gibbons.
Activities for the elderly will include bingo, dancing, craft and exercise classes, dominoes, chess, debating, and a series of speeches from people such as attorneys and physicians. A nurse will be in attendance once a week.
The seniors programme will run from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., Monday to Friday, under the directorship of Mrs. Patience Godfrey.
"For $25 a week or $6 a day to join, the elderly can take part in a whole range of interesting activities and meet other people,'' said Mrs. Godfrey.
All senior citizens on the Island are being invited to the new centre for a free lunch.
The summer programme will be directed by Mrs. Norma-Jean Richards and the snack bar/restaurant is being managed by Ms Judy Hunt.
HELPING THE COMMUNITY -- Ms Wanda Bremar serves a meal to elderly visitors at the Shelly Bay Beach House, helped by Mrs. Patience Godfrey, director of the new seniors' programme.
