experts last week after they were visited by employees of US based Aveda Cosmetics.

The girls, who are part of the school's personal care programme, learned extra helpful hints when caring for their hair including the latest styles and applying makeup.

Senior beauty therapist of Renaissance Hair, Skin and Body Salon Denise Woodhouse, who also teaches the course at the school said Aveda's personnel came to Island to hold courses on advance cutting, the latest styling techniques and product knowledge for all the top salons in Bermuda.

Demonstrations were held at the Bermuda Underwater Institute.

"Aveda has the top training schools in the US and they volunteered to come to Cedarbridge and do a day with the students for education in hair dressing and beauty therapy and demonstrations on the latest styling techniques,'' Mrs.

Woodhouse said.

She added: "They were also able to learn about razor cutting and they saw all types of scissors used for styling which they had not seen before.

"It was great exposure for the students to the world of cosmetics and what can be achieved in this particular career.

"Aveda did it free of charge. We have over 70 students in the programme and they all seemed to really enjoy it. They felt they learned a lot.'' PROFESSIONAL STYLE -- CedarBridge Academy student Chanell Bento gets her hair styled by professionals from US based cosmetics company Aveda Cosmetics.
