Centre puts focus on father/son relations
men to spend more time with their children.
Organisers hope people will take advantage of the Cup Match weekend and summer vacation to spend more time with their children, and document those times by taking pictures of fathers with their kids.
The idea behind the contest is to involve men as positive role models.
"Fathers are vital to a child's well being. They are important to a child's self-esteem and encourage children to reach for the stars,'' said Alvin Goulbourne, of the Fathers' Resource Centre.
"There are so many good fathers in our community and we must accent the positive.'' The Fathers' Resource Centre encourages men of all ages and backgrounds to play an active role in the life of their children.
The contest, sponsored by Kodak Express, runs until September 2 and the winners will be selected by a panel of three judges. The winning photos will be used on a promo poster for the FRC and will be exhibited at City Hall.
Entries will be classified as either amateur or professional. The winner in each category will receive a $200 store credit at Kodak Express.
Entry forms are available wherever Kodak film is sold and the drop boxes for entries are located in the four Kodak Express outlets: Photo Masters, Washington Mall, Bermuda Photo Craftsmen and Snapshot Photo at the Modern Mart.
Capture the moment: The Fathers' Resource Centre yesterday launched a photo contest to encourage father-son relationships. Kodak Express Regional Manager David Sousa holds the drop box as Resource Centre president Alvin Goulbourne posts his entry.
