Cambridge Beaches employee Pierre Riou has flown back to France to continue his rehabilitation after leaving John Hopkins Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, on Monday.

The 21-year-old suffered serious internal injuries as well as broken legs and wrists in the accident, which involved his livery cycle and a taxi on Middle Road, Paget on May 14.

After being taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, he was airlifted to the United States, where he received further treatment in the centre's intensive care unit.

A period on a general ward followed, before he was allowed to leave for France.
