kicked off their 11th season of the "Share The Christmas Spirit'' Food Drive.

The event took place at the MarketPlace on Church Street with the first East End Brownies singing Silent Night, Away in a Manger and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

Cynthia Bell, chairman of the Food Drive and president of the East Lioness' Club, gave a speech launching the drive.

"Everyone can help us by placing a tin or packet of non-perishable foods in the boxes located at all MarketPlace, Modern Mart, Shopping Centre and A-1 Stores,'' she explained. "The food will then be assembled into hampers by The Lioness and Lions Club and distributed to needy families around Bermuda. Over 300 hampers are distributed.'' Garina Tucker, aged nine, cut the ribbon to officially open the ceremony.

"I think that people should contribute food so that everybody can have a happy Christmas,'' she said.

"I think everybody should contribute to the food drive to help other children who don't have food.'' Miss Tucker was chosen to cut the ribbon because she was one of the older Brownies,'' said Mrs. Liverpool, the Brownie Leader.
