Cooking for a good cause
Agape House.
Over the years, the 12-bed hospice, has provided hundreds of terminally-ill patients and their families a refuge of peace and tranquillity.
But the old Bermuda cottage, tucked away in lush, serene grounds, is also an ideal home-away-from-home for the sick.
For families caring for sick loved ones, the Paget facility provides them with an often much-needed break.
Warm, friendly, safe and inviting, Agape House is a sanctuary where the sick can relax in total comfort.
Approximately 70 to 75 percent of the hospice's patients have cancer while the remaining comprise a cross section of other illnesses.
The staff includes 11 full-time nurses, medical social workers, occupational and physiotherapists, a nutritionist and a doctor who are skilled in palliative care. There is also a chef on hand to prepare the meals which are served to the residents by an array of devoted volunteers.
