trust will try to reach in a special fund-raising telethon slated for late this month.

Hundreds of donors and people on the council's mailing list, have been sent envelopes soliciting financial support and advertising for the February 28 telethon.

Head of the council, Gordon Johnson said that while the aim of their last telethon was $60,000 over $73,000 was raised.

"This year we have a goal of $100,000 '' he added.

The telethon will air on VSB radio and TV and will include the announcement of this year's winner of the Jerry Griffiths' award for outstanding personal contribution to substance abuse prevention and treatment in Bermuda. Features on some of the programmes funded by the council and a host of entertainment from local performers will also form part of the telethon.
