Denton's bid to stop the violence
Denton (D) Gibbons will put on the "Stop The Violence Party'' at Number Six Shed.
Organised to highlight the need not only for violence-free parties, but also for an end to violence in all its forms.
"We are not focusing on what happened last weekend,'' Denton D said this week, referring to a recent murder. "We want to see an end to violence period. Everywhere.
"Stop the violence against your girlfriend or boyfriend, against your children and families, that's what we want. We want a peaceful party atmosphere, the way people used to party.'' Denton D said there will be a Pre-Party bash at Casey's bar on Queen Street on March 18 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., when everything moves to Front Street.
At midnight, there will be a buffet served. Admission, including the buffet is $15. Before 11 p.m., women wearing white, to symbolise peace, will be admitted for $12.
"There will be no jeans or sneakers allowed into the party, smart casual clothes only, and we will have strong security,'' Denton D said. "We want people to come out and have a good time. It's Stop the Violence Night.'' He added: "The DJs are myself, Malcolm (Lethal Weapon) Smith, and J. Radigan and we will be doing a cross-section of music. And we will stop in the middle of it for a candle lighting ceremony, again to highlight this issue.'' Denton added with a sly smile: "Then we get back to partying!''
