Diabetics don't have to sacrifice taste

Remove fish from plastic bag to covered dish, discard marinade and bake fish in a 250-degree-Fahrenheit oven for 20 minutes or until it flakes easily. Recipe (which contains 11 grams carbohydrate, 190 grams protein and 11 grams fat) serves six.

EAST INDIAN CHICKEN 3 lbs. chicken, cut up or quartered 1 cup low-fat yogurt or buttermilk 1 clove garlic, crushed 1 tsp. ground ginger 1 tsp. ground cloves 1 tsp. salt 2 bay leaves MIX all ingredients and marinate overnight or for several hours at least.

Remove chicken from yogurt mixture and barbecue over grill or in oven until tender. One serving of four-serving recipe contains 21 grams protein, 9 grams fat and 150 calories.

*** OATMEAL COOKIES 11 cups quick-cooking oatmeal 2 cup margarine, melted 4 egg whites, slightly beaten 1 cup sugar 11 cups sifted flour 1 tsp. salt 2 tsps. baking powder 1 cup skim milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1 cup raisins 1 cup chopped walnuts MIX oatmeal and margarine. Blend in egg whites and sugar. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk and vanilla. Add raisins and nuts. Drop dough in level tablespoons on cookie sheet. Bake in 375-degree-Fahrenheit oven for 10 to 15 minutes. Recipe (which contains 381 grams carbohydrate, 63 grams protein and 170 grams fat) makes four dozen.
