Extra buses and ferries for concert at Dockyard
arrangements for this Sunday's open air concert at Dockyard by the Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir.
Wedco's requests for extra bus and ferry services and a one-way traffic system in Dockyard were approved this week.
Marine and Ports will run direct ferry services from Hamilton to Dockyard at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., returning at 5.30 p.m. (two ferries -- one direct and one via the Sandys Parish ferry stop).
The Public Transportation Board will supplement the regular half-hour Dockyard service with special buses before and after the two-hour concert.
And in conjunction with the Somerset Police and the Royal Navy, Wedco will introduce a one-way system in and out of Dockyard between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to prevent a traffic build-up along the narrow Pender Road approach to Dockyard.
Because of the presence of the British tall ship HMS Rose on the Clocktower Parade, the venue for the open air concert will be the large grassy area between the Clocktower and the marine slip, which provides plenty of space for sitting on the grass.
People who bring their own chairs will find a special area reserved for them in the surrounding areas of tarmac and pathways.
