Fashion for guys has arrived
Art and fashion will share centre stage this weekend in the stylish extravaganza, `Arrival 2000'.
Sunday's fashionable event will be the local launch of "A Line Designs'', a contemporary men's wear collection with a Bermuda connection.
"`A Line' is a team of designers and I assist them,'' explained Bermudian model/designer Amir. "It is a ready to wear line for guys.'' Men's jackets, pants, tops, cardigans and sweaters, in dapper shades of greys and black, will all be featured in the show.
"We will also have lounge wear with matching long and short robes,'' he added. "It's like Victoria's Secret, but for guys.'' After this weekend's local launch, Amir said the line will make the fashion rounds in New York and then Africa.
"After this launch we will decide who will carry the line in Bermuda,'' he added. "Consider this weekend a sneak peek at the collection.'' Arrival 2000 spotlights African art, mens wear "Arrival 2000'' will take place at City Hall at 7 p.m. Door will open at 6 p.m.
In addition to the dapper fashions, the show will also feature African art sold in Amir's store, located in Washington Mall.
"I'm going to have some art on display at the show,'' explained Amir, who regularly crosses the world thanks to his job as a well-known model. "I pick up artifacts from difference places when I travel and bring them back.'' Amir has amassed a wide collection of African art, ranging from swords to masks to carvings, and has displayed them in a Hamilton Store he calls Artifaction.
The store is located on the second level in Washington Mall and will be open until December 31 from 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
"After that I will be back on the road doing modelling,'' he pointed out. "I did this last year and it was very successful - everything sold. So I'm hoping that it will all sell this year.
"Those who don't want to buy anything should just come by for a look and let me know what they like so I can look for it for them during my travels.'' In honour of Sunday's show, a section of Washington Mall will be open, so the public can check out the four stores involved in the show -- Extreme Styles, Mokah, Link to Link and Artifaction.
"It's going to be an outstanding show with great models -both male and females,'' Amir added.
