Film star Cameron to take part in poetry reading
Poetry reading and Shakespeare are sure to take off at St. Paul's Centennial Hall next Tuesday as Bermudian film and stage star Earl Cameron is the featured attraction.
Mr. Cameron, who is on the Island visiting family after picking up a lifetime achievement award from the Bermuda Arts Council, will be reading poetry of Langston Hughes and then excerpts of Shakespeare's Othello.
Annette Hallet, from the Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society, will read the part of Desdemona, Othello's love interest. The night of entertainment has been organised by Leon Edmead.
Also on the bill are Vernette Dorian, Vincent Richardson, Grace Rawlins and Sondra Choudhury. Mr. Edmead said he was prompted to arrange the evening after spending time with Mr. Cameron and discovering that several of his friends were anxious to see him perform.
"I really urge all Mr. Cameron's friends to come out and see him first hand for only $10 compared with $50 they would have to pay to see him elsewhere,'' he said.
