The 1997 National Newspaper Special Sections Awards Competition judged sections from newspapers in a variety of fields including business, entertainment, tourism, transportation, sports, family, education, health and fashion.

The competition broke newspapers down into daily circulation categories of over and under 50,000, with The Royal Gazette Ltd. falling in the latter.

RG Magazine seized first place in the category of transportation for its April article "The RG Auto Show'' and second place in fashion for "The RG Bridal Guide'' in February.

Meanwhile The Royal Gazette won third place for its section and programme for the Samuel L. Jackson Celebrity Golf Classic in May.

The awards will be presented during a banquet at Chicago's Drake Hotel on August 14.
