Grandpa Eggbert Learns a Lesson
"Dear, dear me! That internet is just causing me to sin!'' Grandpa Eggbert exclaimed. "I never knew that this technology stuff could get to someone so bad! You must be addicted Granny!'' Grandpa did not understand anything about technology and did not see the need for it. As he saw it the good old days were in the 1990's and nothing then needed to be changed.
As usual Adam and Amber's mother had dropped them off at Grandma's on the 20th December. As the day was passing by the children were getting so excited! Soon it was going to be Christmas in the year 2020.
They sat down under the electric heater at Grandma's new condo in Paget as Grandma ordered some chocolate chip cookies off the internet to be delivered in fifteen minutes. As Grandma clapped for the lights to turn off the children begged her to hurry. Grandpa just scowled.
He wished Bermuda wouldn't have caught up with the rest of the world. What once was his island in the sun was now a busy e-commerce center, full of people bustling around having not a care in the world for one another, but only for themselves.

Granny and the children were going out to town to watch a reenactment of a gombay dance during the 1900's. They hopped onto the solar powered train; they would be in Hamilton in two minutes. Grandpa did not see the need for this new mode of transport.
Because there was nothing planned for that afternoon he jumped into his Volkswagen Beetle for his own trip to the old town of St. George. Dreaming that he was back in the good old days he imagined that there were horse and buggies in the streets, and people were extremely polite. Everyone was talking and waving to one another, he was having a grand time.
When Grandpa Eggbert came back to reality he was very upset to remember that he could not buy gas for his automobile because now everything was solar powered or electric, and there was no need for gas.
Disappointed, Grandpa plodded back into the house to sit down and make himself a cup of coffee. The laptop was plugged in and turned on.
"Betty must have left her silly computer on,'' he thought to himself. "Lemme see if I can turn that silly toy off,'' he exclaimed. Just as he was about to reach for the plug to turn off the computer, Amber rushed into the room.
Grandpa! What are you doin'?'' she questioned. "Don't pull it out, I need to use that to do some research.'' Continued on page 15 SHORT STORY COMPETITION CPN
