But the organisers have promised that the show will go ahead this Sunday instead.

And it is hoped that Number One Shed will be used to display the hundreds of paintings if the weather turns wet and windy.

More than 200 artists, including schoolchildren, adults, seniors and professionals, submitted works of art illustrating the theme "My Bermuda'' for the competition, which has been organised by the Masterworks Foundation and sponsored by the Bank of Butterfield.

Wet weather conditions also postponed yesterday's Concert in the Park scheduled to be held on Front Street, Pembroke.

But yesterday Corporation of Hamilton spokesman Roger Sheratt said he was hopeful the "Caribbean Flavours Concert'' would instead take place next Sunday.

The victim and other bystanders attempted to stop the thief, but the man threatened them with a bottle and escaped with a "sizable amount of cash''.

He is described as about six feet tall with dark brown skin and short plaits.
