The family-owned hotel was built in 1953 by Horace Browne. Hs son, Mark, is the current manager.

The hotel stays open year round and has a full complement of staff comprised of Bermudians and others, filling about 25 varied jobs.

The staff are busy yet the atmosphere is relaxed.

Miss Jacqui Ferrett serves as the assistant manager and Mr. Dennis Smith's role is that of reservations manager. They are assisted by the latest hire, Ms Shamika Place, front desk receptionist.

Mr. Browne says: "We have almost no job turnover. We hire people and they stay. We have our `hotel family' since we are a moderate sized facility with forty rooms and three traditional cottages.

"We had a dedicated waitress who made the transition to parlour maid that has been with us for 45 years. Mrs. Ivy Symons has been our breakfast chef for 30 years and everyone, guests and staff, love her food. Some of the chamber maids have dutifully served here for 25 to 30 years.'' Mr. Browne concluded: "Our staff are important to our success here. We care about our staff and our guests.''
