Live entertainment comes to the carriage house
George's, the time is ripe for some night-time entertainment in the old town.
Stepping in to fill the bill is `Bootsie and Friends', a brand new show that opens at the Carriage House tonight.
The popular Bermudian stand-up comic will be joined by fellow comedian, Rico March, who scored a big hit in Gene Steede's Hamilton Princess show last year.
The move to live entertainment is a `first' for the Carriage House, but proprietor Mr. George Hoerrmann, says that the arrival of the new cruise ship seemed the perfect time to launch a concept that he had been planning for some time, "but I couldn't quite come up with the right formula. I think the idea of offering visitors and locals a complete evening out in St. George's is long overdue. People love to come down here, but are sometimes at a loss as to what to do after looking around, having a drink or two, or a meal. We can give them a superb dinner in nice surroundings, followed by some good laughs. I was impressed with (producer) Peter Petty's concept. It should provide a much needed addition to the town.'' Bootsie, who will also act as host for the show, says, "I think this is a great idea for St. George's! When they invited me to host for the whole season, through to the end of October, I was overwhelmed. Just think: six nights a week in St. George's -- and I only live in St. David's! I think the idea of comedy and a chance for everyone to enjoy themselves with karaoke afterwards is a great one for the old town. We're all looking forward to it.'' On June 23, Roger Kabler and Bronson Pinchot open for a special limited engagement through July 9. Pinchot is the star of TV sitcom, `Perfect Strangers', and one of the stars of Beverly Hills Cop 2 and 3, where he plays the character of Serge. Kabler starred in `Rhythm and Blues' on CBS last season, and is currently touring the US with Bronson Pinchot.
The Carriage House shows are produced by Mr. Peter Petty of The Entertainment Group Ltd. Admission is $25 per person, which includes two drinks, preferred seating and gratuities. Showtime is at 10 p.m. and the seating capacity is 80.
