May efforts will be beautiful and bountiful

The Bermuda Day holiday weekend is the perfect opportunity to devote some much deserved time to your garden.

And a little plant-oriented TLC should help to ensure that you enjoy a beautiful flower garden and a bountiful vegetable harvest.

If you still want to add to your garden, the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries advises the following flowers and vegetables could be planted in May: Vegetables: Bush beans, cucumber, dasheen, eddoe, pumpkin, radish, squash, sweet potatoe and tomato.

Flowers: Amaranthus, balsam, calendula, celosia, cosmos, gaillardia, gazania, globe, amaranth, hollyhock, marigold, portulaca, rudbeckia, vinca and zinnia.
