Minister promises to speed up scholarhip process

Escorted by pageant organiser Mr. Terry Smith, the 22-year-old beauty queen was driven around the city in a horse and carriage to pick up her gifts from each of the sponsors.
The last stop on Miss Hall's trip was City Hall where she was presented with a cheque for $10,000.
With a smile and a wave to the small crowd which had gathered, she stepped out of the pink and white carriage to accept the last of her prizes.
Friends, family and well-wishers watched as Miss Hall was given an Olympus Camera from Richardson & Wright Construction -- her prize for winning Miss Photogenic.
And they applauded as Deputy Mayor of Hamilton, Mr. William Boyle presented her with the cheque.
Youth and Sports Minister, the Hon. Pamela Gordon congratulated Miss Hall and wished her well as a role model for Bermudians.
"I have a whole year of enjoyment ahead of me,'' said the new Miss Bermuda Islands, "and I plan to represent Bermuda to the best of my ability.'' She added that she planned to put most of the prize money towards graduate school, where she will study social work.
Excluding the trip to South Africa for the Miss World Contest, Miss Hall has won over $11,000 worth of prizes.
