NDTB gears up for summer performance
This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the National Dance Theatre of Bermuda (NDTB) and its members are hard at work on a special summer performance.
Administrator and resident choreographer Conchita Ming told the Hamilton Rotary Club that the August performance would tell the history of Bermuda in dance form. Mrs. Ming said: "The theme of the production, which we are calling Bermuda Tapestry -- History through Dance, will include seven dances, which I have choreographed for the company over the last 20 years.
"The dances centre around significant personalities and events in Bermuda's history such as Gladys Morrell, Sally Bassett, whaling, Church Cave, our gombeys and more.'' The event is scheduled to take place over four days and will begin on August 9 at the City Hall Theatre.
Mrs. Ming added that the company was looking at expanding its workshops into residencies with dance companies from overseas this year. And the NDTB has been working with the Bermuda College to reintroduce the Performing Arts at the college.
