Pauli is flying high `` I've remained on the runway for far too long. But, the wait has taught me patience, and helped make me strong. Now I have clearance
as I leave the runway and obtain comfortable height. I'll give all praises to JAH for he'll pilot this flight.'' *** A Bermudian woman has allowed her creativity to soar with the local publication of her book of poetry entitled "In Flight''.
Pauline O'Connor, affectionately known as "Pauli'', said her collection of poetry spans about 20 years of her life and covers diverse subject matters.
"I've written poetry since I was a little girl, but it basically remained in my own circle so I've always had a group of supporters,'' said Ms O'Connor.
"I've written poetry for all kinds of occasions such as weddings and retirements, so I had family and friends who I knew would support me if I ever published a book -- but it was a matter of reaching outside my personal circle,'' she added.
"I decided to call the book "In Flight'' because my life started going in new directions and taking on new beginnings when I decided to publish the book, and I thought about how poetry gives flight to the soul.
"Poetry is like a form of therapy for me that other people can relate to -- writing allows me to sort out things going on within myself, and when I write and read it back it helps me to decide if what I'm feeling is petty.'' Ms O'Connor has participated in poetry contests in Washington DC, and has won a number of awards. She's currently working on her second collection of poetry.
"In Flight'' is available at True Reflections, Bermuda Bookstore and Abyssinia Imports.
