By Stephen Breen Police are investigating claims that a 12-year-old Bermudian boy has been abducted and taken to the United States.

The Community and Juvenile Services Department launched the inquiry after the boy's family reported last Wednesday that he was missing.

A Police spokesman said officers were investigating claims that the child had been taken to the United States, although he could not confirm a report that the alleged abductor was a friend of the boy's father.

The spokesman said the boy had not been seen since last Wednesday. Officers did not know where he was, but a news report said he had been taken to the Boston area.

Police could not comment on reports that the boy's father, who is said to still be in Bermuda, had been interviewd by Police. A report suggested the father did not have custody of the boy.
