Famous People Players perform their newest puppet show before taking it to Broadway.

Philanthropist/businessman Sandy Mitchell, who is behind the Lions Club's effort to bring the internationally acclaimed troupe to the Island, says "Little More Magic -- For Your Eyes Only'' will run for six days.

On a blackened stage, oversized, fluorescent characters are manipulated by the members of the gifted, 15-strong troupe -- some of whom are mentally retarded or developmentally handicapped.

Billed by the New York Times as an "iridescent spectacle that drenches the senses in light and sound'', the acts include giant typewriters and life-sized figures of Elton John, Little Richard and Michael Jackson performing their greatest hits. A special Bermuda tribute will be performed in the composition "The Bermuda Bird''.

The Famous People Players, who were last here in 1982 for the Bermuda Festival, are a charity who help raise funds for other causes.

The show's proceeds will go toward taking a group of local disabled young people to WindReach Farm in Ontario, a 105-acre accessible farm and nature interpretation centre for disabled individuals, in June.

The Famous People Players will give evening performances between April 13 through 17, with a gala performance on April 12. Morning and afternoon performances are set for April 13, 15 and 17.

Tickets are available from the Visitors Service Bureau from March 22, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and until 3 p.m. during April. The tickets for the evening performances are $18, $12 for the matinee and $50 for the gala.
