their Red Shield campaign this year.

Monies raised through the campaign help support the organisation's many charitable programmes including the emergency housing facility and the Harbour Lights drug treatment programme.

To support its fundraising effort the organisation will be having a tag day on Friday June 8 from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m.

"You will likely see many local volunteers on the street,'' said Red Shield Director Mandy Dennett. "Some of them will be from other organisations, service clubs and their mission will be to tag you for a donation.'' The amount Salvation Army hopes to raise through the Red Shield appeal is actually less than the $500,000 yearly operational cost of the emergency housing shelter alone.

"It is fascinating to read the Annual Report of the Salvation Army that indicates the thousands of people that have been touched by its diversified ministries over this last year,'' said Bermuda Divisional Commander Major Woody Hale.

"For the Salvation Army, life is not a game, there are many children and adults who are looking for some reality in their lives, and the Salvation Army is one of the few organisations that can respond,'' said Major Dennett.

Donations can also be made through mail to the following address: The Salvation Army Divisional Headquarters P.O. Box HM 2259 Hamilton HM 2259 CHURCH CHU
