"Bacchanal Time'' this evening at White Hill Field.

Soca kings Mr. Edwin "Crazy'' Ayoung and Mr. Machel Montano are here straight after engagements in Antigua, Jamaica, Barbados and the United States, where it's been one party after another.

The concert, sponsored by M.R. Productions, will feature "Studio 6,'' and other local acts.

"Crazy'' Ayoung, has been in the soca business for more than 23 years, and yesterday took to the roof of the Birdcage in order to help spread the word about his up-coming performance.

Arranger Mr. Leston Paul, who will also be lending a hand at the musical extravaganza said: "Only `Crazy' could do something like that and get away with it. People have come to expect things like that.'' Promoter Mr. Philip Whiteman also said: "This is not new. `Crazy' has climbed all of the landmarks on every island that he has visited.'' Many soca fans may soon be hearing a new brand of soca music, for "Crazy'' has been popularising "parang soca,'' which is soca music with a Venezuelan flavour.

"Parang soca has been spreading throughout the West Indies like wildfire. And being half Venezuelan helps!'' Crazy also has ties with Bermuda -- local promoter Mr. Choy Aming is his uncle.

Mr. Machal Montano is achieving fame in Europe with hits like "Too Young to Soca,'' and "By All Means.'' He said: "By All Means was inspired by the famous `By Any Means Possible' speech by Malcolm X. I started singing soca when I was nine-years-old, and I have performed in Paris, London, New York, Miami and Germany. The last time that I was in Bermuda was 1988, when I performed at the Clay House Inn.'' SOMETHING TO SHOUT ABOUT -- Soca artist Mr. Edwin "Crazy'' Ayoung, will be performing along with Mr. Machel Montano at White Hill Field as part of `Bacchanal Time' tonight. "Crazy'' found time to spread the news on top of the Birdcage on Front Street yesterday.
