The combining of strings came as a result of a visit to Bermuda by Suzuki Strings of Dallas director Ms Irene Bozarth in November, 1992.

Ms Bozarth was a guest teacher in the annual Bermuda Suzuki Association workshop that year.

Pleased with the ability of the advanced violin students, she invited them to visit Dallas.

After a year of "hard work'' in 1994, a group of students from Bermuda -- Hywell Brown, Nicola Francis, Qian Dickinson, Jessica Lightbourne, Julie Perry, and Mandy Wong -- visited and performed in Dallas under the direction of Suzuki Strings of Bermuda's Mrs. Joan Stewart.

In reciprocation of the visit, Mrs. Stewart invited Ms Bozarth to bring a group of her students to the Island.

The students -- Sarah Cimbalo, Becca Grammer, Hunter Holmes, Bethany McCormack, Alicia Tam, and Sarah Vendsel, performed at the Bermuda High School for Girls assembly yesterday morning.

BHS students involved with the local Suzuki school joined in at the end of the concert.

But the highlight of their visit will be on Sunday afternoon when the six students from Dallas and some 50 students from Bermuda will perform at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, beginning at 4.30 p.m.

The concert will include solos from the most advanced students from both schools.

Tickets for the event are $20 for patrons, $10 for adults, and $5 for students. They are available at Opus 1 or at the door.

Proceeds from event will go toward the cost of the local group's tour to New York next April.
