The Department of Training encourages all employers to register their summer job vacancies as soon as possible.

Over 500 students have registered with the Department. since December, 1997.The Department expects 300 additional students to register by June, 1998.

The benefits for any participating employers is threefold: The service is free without any recruitment costs.

Placement Officers will match student needs with employer needs.

Pre-employment workshops prior to student placement to clarify employer expectations.

Time period The programme commences the in third week of June and will run for eight weeks for post-secondary students and five weeks for secondary students.

Salary Weekly wages will be paid by Government Departments and remains at $300 for post-secondary students and $200 for secondary students.

Employers in the private sector who wish to offer more may do so.

Volunteer Work For some students the chance to work in a volunteer capacity in a non-profit organisation will be a valuable work experience.
