Instead the seven-strong team of delegates is focusing its efforts on community service during its two-week visit, they told members of Hamilton Lions yesterday.

Belgium, Poland Switzerland, US and Bermuda are represented in this year's delegation who are doing some of the base work in anticipation of the arrival of the roadshow and its cast next year.

WindReach Recreational Village, the Co-ed Facility, Westmeath Senior Citizens Residence and King Edward VII Memorial Hospital have benefited from their community work already.

"Our focus is on community service,'' Aneta from Poland said. "We learn about the needs of the community and we leave a legacy behind that hopefully people will remember us by.'' Another part of their visit involves job shadowing. The girls were given the opportunity to spend the day at various offices around the Island and learn about professions that were of interest to them.

They have visited Finland, Denmark, Austria and Sweden so far during their year-long tour.

Sabine from Switzerland said: "We stay with different host families and learn as much from them as we can.

"We have to learn to communicate with the family if we don't speak the language using sign language and gestures.

"We also learn about the lifestyle, customs and household rules from them.''
