Wade book ads pulled
principal and author Dale Butler's twin volume life of former Progressive Labour Party leader Frederick Wade.
The Commissioners, in a letter to TV and radio stations, said the ad broke the rules on political broadcasting.
Mr. Butler said the advert -- which was broadcast on VSB at the weekend and yesterday -- was axed just before it was due to run on rival station ZBM.
A letter from the Broadcasting Commissioners was sent yesterday to both stations -- days after the advert had first been aired.
The letter said: "Having reviewed a tape of the above proposed broadcasts, the Commissioners have determined that the material, in its present form, is of a political nature and can only be broadcast in connection with the Political Broadcasting Directions.'' The advertisement said: "You will cry softly and rejoice out loud at the incredible journey that will take his party, the Progressive Labour Party, to victory in the next General Election.'' The advert ends with "make it happen'' -- a PLP slogan -- and "take back our Country''.
Mr. Butler -- set to be a PLP candidate at the next General Election -- said he would be rewriting the advertisements.
