*** Will I get ill if a mosquito bites me? No. A mosquito will only pass on the infection if it has bitten another person infected with Dengue Fever. So far, no one in Bermuda has Dengue Fever.

*** What should I do to avoid Dengue Fever? Empty out all still water. The mosquito which can transmit the disease, Aedes aegypti , breeds in water. If you see the larvae, which looks like a quarter inch long worm moving snake-like in the water, tip out the water. Check all plants pots for the eggs and leave no still water in pots, tyres or water tanks where the larvae can grow.

*** Will the Department of Health fumigate my neighbourhood for mosquitoes? No. The mosquito is domesticated and hides in closets. If mosquitoes are still in your neighbourhood and you have tipped out water, you neighbour's house may be infected. Call the Pest Control Department.
