What's ahead for Somerset

liveliest stores there is the traditional Somerset Pharmacy Ltd. built about 40 years ago by the Fowle/Watlington families. Since June it has been under the new management of Ms Eleanor Fowle.

Sometimes shopping works up a thirst and a appetite and this is a quaint place to cool your heels while the eyes browse traditional drug store items.

In the back there was a popular, old fashioned grill with all the traditional, delicious home made foods like codfish cakes, burgers with the works, fish chowder, green pea soup and such.

However, that has changed just recently. Now you serve yourself / ready made sandwiches, cold beverages, hot tea and coffee. The section remains cozy and inviting with the tables and chairs and the sandwiches are fresh and homemade.

Muffins and other goodies are there too.

Ms. Fowle said, "The latest news is the upstairs floor has been turned into Toy Land and we will be holding our grand opening November 25 from 6-8 pm.

After the 25th we will extend our shopping hours on Wednesday and Friday evenings.'' "We have made a few changes but we plan to preserve our old ambience.'' In addition to the razzle dazzle there is a super efficient pharmacy with qualified pharmacists who are helpful and communicate well with the customers.

They have a little branch store in the Dockyard Mall called, "Sea side Health Corner''.

Fashions in Somerset.

Yes, holiday fashions to make you look glamorous for your festive gatherings.

The Womens House League of the Salvation Army Somerset Corp. will be holding a Fashion Tea at the West End Primary School on November 28 from 3-6 pm. The cost will be $8. Put on one of your Sunday dresses with hat and gloves, if you choose, and be seen there! You can sit off sipping tea while shopping. Ahh, the chance to mellow out and have a delightful afternoon.
