Young graduates get a business boost -- New scholarship aims to help Bermudian students
The Bank of Bermuda Foundation announced it is creating a new scholarship to support young Bermudian graduates who are going to study a Master of Business Administration (MBA) on a full-time basis.
It will be offered for the first time next year, with application deadline March 27, 2002.
Awarded annually and worth $25,000, the Bank of Bermuda Foundation Eldon H.
Trimingham Scholarship has been created in recognition of Mr. Trimingham's significant contributions to the bank and to Bermuda.
Mr. Trimingham retired from Bank of Bermuda in January 2001 after over 15 years as chairman of the board of directors, and more than 30 years on the board in total.
The Bank of Bermuda Foundation Eldon H Trimingham Scholarship is one of the few scholarships open to graduates and will offer recipients of the Scholarship real working opportunities at the bank during vacation breaks and immediately after they finish their studies.
The scholarship will open for applicants next year, and will be looking for graduates with proven outstanding scholastic ability, qualities of character, ability in non-academic pursuits and a form of business experience.

"There are not many scholarships available for graduates, and we feel it important to be able to support young Bermudian students prepare for the highly competitive world of business. Not only will they get the Scholarship award, but they will have the chance to gain some meaningful work experience at the bank which we hope will give them a firm platform on which to build a highly successful career.''
