A place to do what you love

just as enthusiastic as she must have done when she first began. There is no doubt that it's a good thing as Ms. Johnson came to the College after doing "so many other things''.

Top of her class in the Faculty of Applied Science, Ms Johnson is battling the odds and winning handsomely. The only female in her department she majors in autobody work and has never felt out of place. "As the only woman it makes me feel good to take on the challenge and it's an incentive for me to finish every project.'' In her mid thirties Ms. Johnson said she decided to attend Bermuda College so that she could get certified in the sort of work she's always loved. After trying her hand at a number of other professions, including waitressing and reception work, Ms. Johnson says she decided to "get focused.'' It's now two years later but she says she's much happier. "From the time I was young I was fixing cars, I used to fix my aunt's car and I always put my best into those jobs.'' she recalled.

Holding down a full-time job at Holmes, Williams and Purvey (HWP) is a motivating factor for Ms Johnson to continue at the College. "The guys I work with at HWP are fully qualified, they have all their papers and so they can do some things that I still can't'' she pointed out.

Slated to complete her studies next year, Ms Johnson is sure to continue striving for challenges.

Debrina Johnson is top of her class and loves her work.
