Abolition commemoration

There will be dramatic readings, music and dance memorialising this historic event.
Participants will include members of the clergy, The Salvation Army Divisional Band, The Allen Temple AME Senior Choir, saxophonist Wendell "Shine'' Hayward, The National Dance Theatre of Bermuda and United Dance Productions.
Readers will include Richard Fell, Gary Phillips, Danny Richardson, Ruth Thomas MBE, and Edwin Wilson.
While there you can also visit the burial ground for slaves and free blacks at St. Peter's Church.
*** The Bermuda Toastmasters Club finished its term with a banquet and prize giving at La Coquille last Thursday night.
Welcoming remarks were made by outgoing president Carol Bassett.
A number of people won prizes for their efforts throughout the year including new president Latanya Richardson who won the award for Toastmaster of the year.
The club will resume on September 16 with a meeting at the Chamber of Commerce.
