The Aussie won on the basis of his first-leg performance, where he went unbeaten and thus was able to win a tie-break over Richard Black and Rick Robinson, who were present for the latest round of play.
All finished tied on five points, but Farleigh received the nod over Black, with Robinson third and Bob Bagley (four-and-a-half points) fourth.
Still, nearing the completion of play, it appeared as though defending champion Nick Faulks would once again walk away with the title.
Playing against newcomer, Robinson, Faulks was about to win on time when he succumbed to a simple mate. This after falling to a similar fate against another neophyte Ted Gosling the previous week.
Faulks eventually wound up fifth overall.
